After spending 5 days in Carlos, MN...we ventured 3 hours northeast to Six Mile Lake, in Bena, MN to fish with Steve's family for a week. We didn't have much luck fishing, so the owner of the resort recommended a small remote lake nearby. The boat ramp dumped the boats into a small pond and from there, Steve and his two brothers had to push the boats through a marshy area. Lots of leeches and cuts on their feet later, we were finally in the main part of Sucker Lake. This challenging entrance proved to be worthwhile because we caught over 50 Northern Pikes in two days. Whoally smokes! Many of them were too small to keep but it was so fun. At one point, we caught three fish simultaneously in the boat I was in. I've never experienced that much activity in the six years I've been on this trip.
We're excited to take Emry on a fishing excursion when she gets a little older.
