The Sweetest Thing

Emry giggled for the first time on Monday, March 29th! She's done it a few times since then, and each time I get tears in my eyes and my heart absolutely melts. She is the sweetest thing in the world...I love watching her grow and change each day. Keep on giggling little girl...we love it!

Please Come Again

My mom's sisters, Cindy and Jeanne, and Jeanne's son Manny came to KC this weekend to meet Miss Emry. It was so sweet to see Manny with her...he was very gentle and very curious. He insisted on watching as many diapers changes as possible and absolutely LOVED seeing the poop! Even when he said, "That's disgusting!" he would ask if he could see it again before I pitched them in the Diaper Genie. We had a blast buzzing around KC. On Saturday, we took Manny to the Fairytale Village at the Crown Center, and Crayola Cafe. Both were a big hit! On Sunday, we took him to the T-Rex restaurant at Legend's and he was mesmerized. He's a dinosaur fanatic so this was a special treat. They had Build-A-Dino so Steve and I bought "Manford" the mammoth he picked out. Darling! Manny and Manford are officially attached at the hip. We also went to the park, did sidewalk chalk, and played restaurant in our basement bar. Emry was such a trooper with all hustle and bustle. She snoozed most of the time. That must mean she enjoyed everything as well! It was so wonderful having them here...we love hosting! We haven't seen them since Thanksgiving...too long! Here are a few pics that represent a snapshot of our adventures this weekend. Love you all and come again!

Nice to Meet You!

Emry and I went to visit my friend Lindsay and her new baby girl Adelyn, who was born on St. Paddy's day. Both girls loved sleeping on top of their Bundle Me. Too cute!

First Shoal Creek Visit

Today Emry and I visited my school for the first time since I was on bedrest. It was so good to see everyone again, especially my students. It's been three months since I've seen them. They were wide eyed when we walked into the room and a little nervous. It was so cute chatting with them about Emry and I loved the way they were so caring and cautious towards her. Here are some pics of her experience at school. :)

Who Needs Tummy Time Anyway?

While Emry was doing tummy time, I looked away for maybe 30 seconds and this is what I saw when I looked back. She's figured out a way to cope with the stress of T.T...fall asleep!

Enjoying the Weather

We've had a few nice days here in KC and the other night, we took our first walk outside as a family. Here's us getting ready to hit the trail! It felt great to get breathe fresh air and feel the warmth of the sun.

My friends and Me!

Every Wednesday, Emry and I go to the St. Luke's Breastfeeding Support Group. We get to see how much she's grown since the previous week and chat with other moms about breastfeeding/parenting issues. She's made some new friends over the last few weeks. Here is a picture of Riley, Levi, and miss Emry. What a cute bunch of babes!

2 Month Checkup

Emry had her two month checkup and first set of vaccines today. She did so well! She weighs 11 lbs, and is 50 percentile for weight, 90 percentile for height, and 60 percentile for head circumference. She only cried for a few seconds after receiving her shots. Snuggling with mommy made those tears disappear quickly. We also learned that her pediatrician is the mother of one of Steve's former students. Small world! Great job Emry...mommy and daddy love you!

Daddy's Girl

Emry and daddy took another nap together the other day. Too cute! I can't get enough of their love for each other. :)

2 Months!

Emry turned 2 months yesterday. I cannot believe how much she has changed and how quickly time is passing. As always, we absolutely adore her and feel so blessed to be her parents. Here are a few things our little bean is doing at this point:
~holds her head up when carried upright or sitting on our laps
~sleeps from 8:00-9:45, then 10:15-4:00, and finally 4-7am (not consistent but close!)
~nurses 7 times a day (sometimes she has a bottle and takes it very well)
~smiles at every diaper change and other various times
~sits in Bumbo seat for short periods
~coos
~loves having her butt pat when tired and fussy ~can follow objects and focus on things
~can move her head from side to side during "tummy time"
I'm sure there is more but that's all I can think of now.

Lights Out

Eating is tough work! She was passed out after only nursing on one side. Cutie pie!

Go ISU!

Emry went to her first ISU basketball game last night at the Sprint Center, here in KC. ISU played Texas but couldn't quite pull off a win. Still, it was a fun family outing and our tickets were free! Steve was so excited to have his daughter feel the Cyclone magic. :)

Bath Time

Emry has finally started to tolerate bath time. The only time she cries is when is time to get out and dry off.
I'm ready to get into the bath!
I love it when you wash my hair.
I hate being dried off mom!
That's better. I'm getting a little warmer.
Aren't I cute?

First Road Trip!

Emry did so well on her first road trip. She slept driveway to driveway both ways! We were able to spend time with Steve's family and good friends. Time definitely flew by too quickly as it always does. Enjoy a slideshow of our weekend. I'll post it above.

Look at Me!

She's getting to be such a big girl. She's able to hold her head up for short periods of time in her Bumbo seat. She is also smiling more consistently and it completely melts my heart! What an adorable little bean. :) Enjoy the little video.

Love This!

A new mother from my breastfeeding support group introduced me to the Baby Daze organizer. I wish I would have known about this before Emry was born but I figured it could still be helpful since she's only 6 weeks old. The new mother said her mom purchased it at Target but when I looked there last week, they weren't carrying it anymore. Eventually, I discovered Barnes N Noble carries it online. I had it shipped to a store near us to save the cost of shipping. The book is divided into 8 sections, each covering the basic, daily aspects of baby's and their parents' life: feeding/diapering, sleeping, pumping, milestones, gift tracker, food diary, medical, contacts/notes. I highly recommend this to new mothers as you can organize and keep track of important information in one spot. You can visit http://www.babydaze.net/ to find out more information.

Thanks for Visiting!

Grandma and Grandpa Maro and Uncle Jimmy came to visit from Minnesota this past weekend. Time went by too quickly as it always does but we had a blast. They babysat Sunday evening so Steve and I could have a date night. It was our first time away from Emry together. We went to a movie and dinner, and it was enjoyable and odd at the same time because all I've known for almost two months is feeding, diapering, and snuggling Emry.
My mom, Ted, and Jimmy loved on her all weekend and were sad to go. We can't wait to see them in KC again! Please come back soon! :) Love you!
