Holter Christmas 2010

On the 26th, we celebrated with my dad and step-mom. Grandpa Jeff couldn't get enough of Emry. He gave her the most thoughtful gift...a book with a voice recording of him reading it. Now she can hear him anytime! Emry also met her great-great grandma for the first time. Grandma Jayne is almost 95 years old! We were able to get a 5 generation picture (minus my dad's parents). Such a neat thing!

Broz/Maro Christmas 2010

We left G & G Sheriff's, Christmas morning and headed north to celebrate with my mom's side of the family in Prior Lake, MN. Emry was the center of attention and loved it! When someone would giggle at her, she would chime in having no clue what was so funny. She wore a darling red dress that Grandma Julie gave her. It proved to be difficult to crawl in, so we had to tuck the front into her bloomers. Since it was the second round of gift opening, she became a little more interested.

Sheriff Christmas 2010

Emry had a great Christmas with the Sheriff family. She received lots of thoughtful gifts but the most special was a handmade rocking chair from Grandpa Sheriff. He is so talented! Emry absolutely loves sitting in her chair, rocking, and reading books in it.

11 Months!

Unbelievable! Emry is one month away from her 1st birthday! Absolutely unreal. Looking back at past pictures has made me realize how much she's grown and changed over the last 11 months. Like I always say: Steve and I feel so blessed to be parents of an amazing little girl, we simply cannot get enough of her! Here are the most recent tricks up her sleeve: ~ Says, "Uh-oh" ~ Repeats sounds ~ Crawls up the stairs like a pro...we're working on going down now ~ Stands alone for several seconds at a time ~ Is beginning to point to belly and ears when I ask where they are ~ Eats all table food (does not like corn, cooked carrots, or oranges) ~ Has own kitchen drawer where she organizes the tupperware :) ~ Takes objects out of larger containers and puts them back in ~ Loves bath time ~ Holds attention for an entire short story and helps turn pages ~ Weighs 20 lbs ~ Takes three bottles a day ~ Gets into everything she's not supposed to

Santa Baby...

You'll never believe it! Santa came to Plaza Middle School (Steve's work) this past Thursday! Emry met him for the first time and wasn't too sure what to think. Maybe it was all the curly white hair on his face. She sat on my lap and listened to him read, The Night Before Christmas to all the children there. Then we ate cookies and drank hot cocoa (Emry stuck to her water). She made some new friends who absolutely fell in love with her. They held hands and talked to Emry in cute little voices...it was the sweetest thing.

Breathing Treatments

Last Saturday, Emry developed a cold which progressively got worse and ended up moving to her chest. She was wheezing a little when she was screaming her lungs out Tues night. Not too normal so I called the doc early Wed morning. They wanted to see her right away because they don't like to mess around with breathing issues. At the appointment they discovered that her oxygen level was low so they did a breathing treatment in the office to make sure that it increased her levels. Even though the nurse left me alone to perform the treament myself (something I've NEVER done) to an almost 11 month old, who was only in a diaper, crying her face off and thrashing her head and arms EVERYWHERE...it was a success! Her levels went up and they sent us home with our very own nebulizer and instructed us to give her a treatment every 4-6 hours until her cough ceases. She's tolerating the restraint and sitting still better and better each time. We're hoping this is a one time deal but if not, we're better educated and prepared.

Lazy Saturday Morning

Emry was snuggled in Steve's sweatshirt while they watched ESPN this morning.

Oh Christmas Tree...Oh Christmas Tree...

We put up our petite Christmas tree this Thursday. It's the one we initially bought for our apartment and haven't upgraded yet. Some day...right? Emry was obsessed with the ornament balls and flung them in the air and attempted to have them for snack. Dangerous but hilarious! Maybe she thought she was Jim Carey in the Grinch.

Tupperware...Everywhere!

Emry has discovered that she can open and close cabinet doors and drawers. While I was unloading the dishwasher this is what little missy was up to.

So Thankful

We are thankful for so much: shelter, food, clothing, good health, job security, family, friends, but especially for our beautiful, healthy, sweet baby girl and the opportunity to be parents. Emry had a great first Thanksgiving. We celebrated with the Sheriffs Nov. 20th and my side on the special day. She loved seeing her extended family from far away and can't wait to visit them again over Christmas break.

Another Cold

We're not sure if it's teething or what, but Emry has another cold. That's the second in the last two months. She has a LOT of snot along with a nasty cough. We can tell she's not feeling well because she lets us snuggle her without squirming away. She also has "sick breath" as I call it and droopy eyes. I hate seeing her like this because she can't tell me exactly what hurts and she can't rid herself of the mucus. I've been aspirating her nose several times a day the last few days. She HATES it and has learned to thrash her head from side to side. So, I've had to swaddle her with our big blankets and hold her head still. The entire time she wails, I sing, and tell her "mommy is helping you." I think she likes being wrapped up because she'll sit quietly well after we've finished de-boogering.

10 Months!

Our sweet angel turned 10 months today! Absolutely unbelievable! It's hard to think that almost a year ago, God gave us the best gift EVER! I have loved every moment of watching her grow and change these past 10 months. We love, love, love our bunner (as Steve would say). Here is what she's up to as a big girl: * Weighs 19 lbs 2 oz * Is 29 inches long * Sleeps from 7:30pm-6:30/7 am * Takes two, 2-2 1/2 hr naps * Drinks three, 9 oz bottles of formula (no more nursing. Little missy bit me twice and drew blood.) NOT FUN! * Has six teeth. Three on top, three on bottom. * Eats all big kid food (except for milk and peanut butter) * Is always on the move * Pulls up and walks around things * Can open cabinet doors and drawers * Is sensitive * Loves tipping over Rosie's food/water dish * Loves bath time * Turns head to find da-da or Rosie when I ask where they are * Loves "The Wheels on the Bus" * Wants to play with all electronics: phones, cords, computer mouse, remote, etc. * Lets me know when the floor is dirty by picking up the TINIEST speck and attempting to eat it for snack * Constantly babbles and says, "mmmmmm" after each bite of food * Turns pages in books

Trick or Treat

Emry made her first Halloween debut as a baby cow. We started at a friend's party where there were all kinds of yummy food and adorable crafts! Emry finger painted a Peanuts poster, sponge painted an empty paint can, and assembled a candy corn character with sticky foam pieces. Steve and I were VERY impressed with her artistic talent. :) Of course she did everything all by herself (wink, wink). After the party, we moved to our friend Scott and Natalie's neighborhood to trick or treat. Emry and her buddy Fletcher enjoyed a leisurely ride in our wagon as their older buddies collected candy. Her friend Gavin was also a cow! All in all, it was a spook-tacular Halloween!

Morning Wagon Ride

My mom and I took Emry on a walk this morning. It was CHILLY so I bundled Emry in her oversized winter coat, hat, mittens, and a blanket. She looked like Randy from A Christmas Story. Hilarious! Despite the cool air, Emry dozed off a few times. Too cute!
