Silly Me
Disclaimer: this blog is about our pregnancy adventures...the good, the bad, and even the disgusting, not so fun moments. If you have an open mind, please read on. :) I know some men prefer to avoid stories about womanly issues.
This morning I had a few instances of spotting along with mild cramps. To say the least, it scared the s*^# out of me and yes, I bawled my eyes out when I told Steve. Deep down in my heart I knew there was a good chance everything was fine but the negative possibilities were taking over my thoughts. Most of you know that I tend to think of the worst first which is something I HATE and I'm trying to work on. Anyway, the instant I discovered the spotting I called my doctor's nurse immediately. After a brief conversation, she advised me to come in to the office. At the appointment I held it together very well. The nurse used the Doppler to detect Bean's heartbeat which was a strong, steady 142. Whew! I was relieved to know that Bean wasn't in any distress. Then, the doctor came in a did a quick "woman" exam and said everything looked great. She said spotting can occur for any number of reasons, and many are harmless to the fetus and mother. I was somewhat embarrassed because I thought I may have overreacted but I've never gone through this experience before and have no reference as to what's "normal" for my body. I'd rather be safe than sorry. The doctor was very understanding and said most woman are anxious with their first because it's all new to them. Sooo, we are doing very well! I thank God for this blessing and know he has Bean's best interests in mind. :)

First baby purchase!
We have officially bought our first piece of furniture for Bean's nursery. We found a great deal on a new glider/ottoman set at an overstock store. We decided to go with a neutral color in hopes that it will match whatever bedding and wall color we choose. We have a few bedding sets in mind but haven't made a final decision yet. Here are a few pics of the chair.

Royals Game
Steve and I haven't been to a Royals game in a WHILE so we thought it was about time to head to the renovated Kauffmann stadium again. The Royals played the Texas Rangers and ended the game with a VICTORY! I usually love the atmosphere of professional sports more than the game itself but I must say, this was exciting to watch. Our friend Scott came with us but I didn't get any pictures of him.

Bean's Heartbeat
Steve and I went to our second pregnancy appointment this morning and everything is going REALLY well! We were blessed to hear little Bean's hearbeat for the first time. It was so amazing and made both Steve and I tear up. :) The heart rate was 130 bpm...and according to the nurse, that's a good number. I'll visit the doctor again August 24th, and will be 17 1/2 weeks then. How crazy!?!?!
We're in the middle of purchasing a new digital camera so stay tuned for new pictures!

13 Weeks
Here's a shot at my belly at 13 weeks. I've gained SEVERAL pounds so I'm not quite comfortable enough to show my bare belly. It's not ALL baby yet. Give me a few weeks and I'll be ready. :)

July Vacations
Hello! Sorry it's been so long since I've last posted. We have been out of town the last two weeks spending time with both of our families. We began our journey at my grandparents lake home in Alexandria, MN. We enjoyed the company of my grandparents, mom, step-dad Ted, Cindy, Jeanne, Gregg, Manny, and Reggie (the dog). The week FLEW by and then we headed to Six Mile Lake, in Northern MN to fish with Steve's immediate family. The weather was chilly, misty, and overcast most of the trip. Even then, we still had a blast. This was the first year I caught absolutely NOTHING! Steve caught two decent sized Northerns which was good for him because he doesn't usually have good luck. I only have a few pictures to go along with this post because my camera is on it's last leg. We're hoping to have a new, reliable one soon. Enjoy!
