6 month Well Check

Bryn had her well check this afternoon. Everything is on track except for her weight. She's in the 25th percentile and her pediatrician encouraged me to add a nursing session and only offer rice cereal/baby food twice a day. Not quite sure how I feel about that because she's doing well on her eat/play/sleep cycle and that means she'll need to nurse every 2 1/2 hours to squeeze 6 feedings in. We'll see how it all works out. The doc was amazed at her babbling skills and said many kids don't gibber-gabber like that until 9 months. Her length puts her in the 90th percentile and doc said she's as long as most 9 month olds are. We have a long, lanky girl on our hands! Here are her specific stats: Weight: 14 lbs 12 oz; 25th percentile Height: 27 in.; 90th percentile Head Circumference: 16 3/4 in.- they didn't give me a percentile. If we can get her weight up by her next well visit, we'll be good to go!

6 Months!

Can't believe sweet Bryn is already 6 months. Where has the time gone...seriously??!?! She's our little sweetheart and such a happy girl, 90% of the time. Here is what she's up to at the old age of 6 months: - babbles nonstop- aaaaa, aa-da, vvva-vvaa, da-da, bbbbb, aa-baa, squeals - her torso is getting stronger each day (not sitting up yet) - developing better hand control - loves to smile - wears size 2 diapers - 6-9 month clothes - naps 3-4 times per day (sometimes she still needs a cat nap before her last feeding) - nurses 5-6 times per day - eats rice cereal 2-3 times per day - watches big sister constantly - drools nonstop- pretty sure she's working on her front bottom teeth - sucks her thumb (never took the paci...this habit will be hard to break) :( - her bald patch is growing back - would rather be held. Steve and I marvel at her daily...she's our second miracle and we love her to pieces.

First Bite!

Well, we finally got around to giving Bryn rice cereal for the first time this evening. I didn't intentionally wait this long, time just seems to pass MUCh more quickly with the second child than the first. She'll be 6 months on Friday so I thought it was about time. She didn't love it but didn't hate it either. More came out than stayed in but she'll get the hang of it.

Sheriff Easter

We celebrated Easter with Steve's family yesterday. It's so fun to see the girls interact with everyone. We love spending time with the Sheriffs!

All the grandkids...with one more on the way (not us).

Looking for eggs with daddy. (She just woke up from her nap and we rushed her outside to find eggs before the bad storm hit). She wasn't quite sure what was going on.

She finally "found" one on the patio table.

Doing puzzles with her cousins.

Easter 2012

My dad and step-mom were in town for Easter so we were able to spend it at our house! It was also Steve's 31st birthday so we had a lot to celebrate! My dad grilled steaks and Kathy prepared yummy veggies to be grilled, and toasted french bread with butter and garlic. I made Steve a confetti Angel food cake (one of the few sweets he likes). We enjoyed a non-traditional Easter meal on the deck. It was fabulous!

Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Kathy spoiled the girls with full Easter baskets. Emry got bunny ears, binoculars, and coins, coins, coins! She was in heaven! Here she's showing Grandpa Jeff her money.

Bryn loves her Grandma Kathy.

Birthday boy with his girls.

Best one of Emry we could get.

Hunting for eggs on the deck & patio.

Powerful

I stole this quote from my sister-in-law's, twin sister's Facebook. So very true and powerful. Something all moms and dads should remember.

"God mercifully intercedes in those moments and shows me his ways are above my ways. By God's grace I can resist the temptation to treat my children as interruptions to my will for my life. Instead, God enables me to treat them as precious gifts he is using to shape me into his image according to his will for my life."

Easter Extravaganza

We headed to Steve's school this evening for an Easter celebration for staff members' kids. They dyed and hunted for eggs, listened to a story, met the Easter bunny, and enjoyed cookies and drinks. Super cute and fun!

Cutie Pa-tooties!

5 month old "chunkers." Hers are a little smaller than her big sister's were but are definitely squeezable.
