Story Time with the T-Bones

Steve and Emry had a fun father/daughter day while I finished out the last day of summer school. Steve took Emry to the T-Bones (minor league baseball team) stadium to walk around the field and listen to a player read a children's book. They met up with our good friends, the McMillans and their two adorable boys. Steve said Emry did pretty well but soon after story time, she became restless mostly from the heat. So, they didn't get to stay for the game that began at 11. Steve took some cute pics of their adventure together. Enjoy!

Visit from Uncle Jimmy

My brother traveled all by his lonesome to spend time with us this weekend. We had a nice relaxing time with no set plans. We visited Steve at the fields Friday night and ate at Smokehouse Saturday night. Jimmy was quite impressed with KC bbq. We hope you can come again soon! Love you.

Happy Day to you Daddy!

Thanks daddy for being so sweet to our little girl. She is so lucky to have you as the wonderful role model, care giver, protector, playmate, and supporter you are to her. Her eyes light up when you walk in the room...it is apparent that she possesses BIG love for her daddy. My heart grows every time I watch you two interact...such a unique bond. Here's to many more daddy/daughter moments! Emry and I love you to pieces!

Here are some pics of our bowling adventures on daddy's special day.

Picnic Fun

I joined a mom's support group through our church this past fall. All moms are welcome but our children happen to be under 3. We met every other Wednesday evening for a few hours to share thoughts and feelings about motherhood, share advice, pray, and basically support one another in this journey. We had our year-end celebration with a picnic at Heritage Park, in Smithville. We ate yummy hot dogs, fruit, chips, potato salad, and brownies and played! Despite the stormy night, the clouds broke and the sun came out! Emry loved sitting at the "kids" table Shawnna brought and eating with new friends.

Ma-ma and Pa-pa

Steve's parents came down to KC for a few days to help care for Emry while Steve and I worked. I began teaching summer school on Thursday and only have to teach 10 days since I elected to job share with a coworker. We sooo appreciated the time they took out of their schedules to spend some quality time with their youngest grandchild. Emry refers to them as Ma-Ma and Pa-pa and had an absolute blast with them. We love you tons and please visit again soon!

Monday Fun-Day

We headed to The Grove in Zona Rosa this morning to play with a few of my coworkers' kids. Emry got to see Addie! It had been a while and they were definitely excited to see each other.

"Bye bye Monkeys"

Emry had her first ever zoo experience today at the Kansas City Zoo! We received free admission and a complimentary lunch through Steve's orthodonist. Emry did amazing sitting in a stroller for over 2 hours and was actually able to pinpoint the animals, even when they were hard to spot. Many of them were far off and/or sleeping so we only saw a few up close. Her favorite by far, were the monkeys. Whenever we'd walk away from them, she'd say "Bye bye Monkeys." She so darn cute! :)

Meet Peanut #2!

We had our 20 week checkup/sonogram this morning. We brought Emry and she probably wasn't sure what was going on but said "babee" over and over. Then she quickly tired of being cooped up in the small room so Steve had to take her out and work his magic while the sonographer finished up. Everything looks good and baby is measuring 2 days ahead of schedule. The heart rate was 143 and baby weighed 11 oz. We chose not to find out the gender and actually stuck to our plan! We have about 20 weeks to meet this little boy or girl. Here are a few pics of our growing angel. The shots are a little blurry b/c I took pictures of pictures (no scanner here). :)

Profile pic. Baby wasn't the most cooperative for this shot so this is best she could get.

Baby is on its side facing us with its arm bent.

Summer Fun...Indoor Style

We've been cooped up indoors for the last few days for two reasons:

1) We've been under a heat advisory...too hot to be outside. The shade couldn't even protect us from the wrath of mother nature. Emry had a full head of sweat after 5 minutes!

2) She was diagnosed with Coxsackie Virus on Monday. She has a form of Hand Foot and Mouth that has only affected her throat. The doc recommended to keep her home until Thursday since it's a highly contagious virus. Luckily it's nothing too serious and her fever broke Monday night and hasn't returned. She's playing and eating better which means her throat is healing. Tomorrow is freedom day and we can interact with the outside world once again!

Playing peek-a-boo with her stylish glasses.

I typically love and NEED to have the house picked up and clean but I'm getting better at leaving the mess until the end of the day. Demolition is a reoccuring thing when you're stuck inside all day. :)

A quick rest in the danger zone.

Visitors from MN

This weekend my mom, aunt Jeanne, and cousin Manny came to visit us. We did our best to fit in as many fun activities in less than two days! We went to a big park and Sheridan's Friday evening. On Saturday, we headed to our neighborhood pool and park, and ended the evening at Crown Center. We visited the Rainforest exhibit and ate dinner at Fritz's. Manny and Emry loved the train activity just as we hoped! Unfortunately, Emry woke up with a fever this morning so she wasn't as peppy and happy. We were sad to see them go but so glad they made the long drive. Thanks again and we'll see you all in July!!! Love you!

Standing near the "scat" at the exhibit. This was an example of how large cats leave tracks. :)

Two cuties at Fritz's!

Liberty Splash Park

We tried the splash park in Liberty today. Emry liked it for a bit and then decided to wander off around the complex. I was quite happy it was fenced in so she couldn't escape to the street like she does at the Zona Rosa splash park! After lots of playing and a yummy pizza buffet lunch at The Dish, she was all tuckered out and ready for nap.

Play Date x 2

Emry had two play dates today! First she had fun in the sun at Avery and Aleah's house with Novella and Escher too! This evening, we headed to Tori's house to play with all the friends Emry met at breastfeeding group back in the day. She was one exhausted little girl by bedtime.

She has no fear and is notorious for wandering off down the sidewalk. She never gets too far. :)

Thanks for a great day everyone!
